Creating a Theory of Change – An Introduction

March 12, 2019 - March 13, 2019

€395 – €495
ow to write a proposal for foundations

For organisations keen to improve their impact, developing a theory of change is a good starting point. Such a theory of change is a powerful tool that helps organisations and initiatives plan how they will create change, assess their effectiveness and communicate to stakeholders. Growing in popularity over the last decade, it is now used widely by charities, social enterprises, the public sector and gradually even by mainstream businesses who are recognising its potential.

During this two-day workshop we therefore explore what a theory of change is, how to construct one and best practice in conducting robust qualitative research.

When: 12. & 13. März 2019, 9 am to 5:00 pm
Where:
Seminarzentrum Pallottihaus, Auhofstraße 10, 1130 Vienna, Austria
Costs:
€495.- (incl. lunch, refreshments and documentation)/€395.- for TripleFunds members (20% discount)
Training facilitators:
Karin Kohlweg (pme Kohlweg Consulting) / Lisa Ringhofer (TripleMinds)

Content:

  • The big picture: understanding how change happens
  • Outcome talk: theory of change and other impact formats
  • Collecting theory of change data: engaging with stakeholders
  • Using appropriate tools and processes at each stage of developing the theory of change
  • Developing a change pathway
  • Using theories of change by organisations for M&E and to demonstrate impact

The training will therefore help you to:

Understand the big picture: ToC and its role in project/programme planning and evaluation
Embed ToC in relation to other models (logic models, Logframes, results chains)
Develop your own ToC (collecting theory of change data: engaging with stakeholders)
Visualise your ToC and quality check
Avoid common pitfalls

If you have a project in mind, the course will offer the opportunity to map out YOUR theory and gain feedback.

With a group size of no more than 15, the workshop will be interactive and hands-on. Lunch and refreshments will be provided. The workshop will be held in English. You can register for the workshop either online (by filling out the form below) or via email to [email protected]. The workshop will only take place with a minimum of 5 participants.
