FUNCAP is our grant funding capacity development program, designed for non-profits working in international cooperation. It specifically looks at grant funding from international trusts and foundations.

It combines training sessions with personalized coaching on specific work packages to strengthen fundraising skills and systems. The program is tailored for beginner to mid-level program and fundraising staff and focuses on securing grants from trusts and foundations.

Structured around five core modules, FUNCAP guides organisations through the entire grant cycle: developing a Theory of Change, identifying suitable donors, cultivating relationships, writing compelling proposals, and maintaining long-term donor partnerships. Each module begins with a training session—delivered online or in person—followed by individual coaching to apply the learnings in a practical, customized way.

The modules are:

• Module 0: Theory of Change – Helps organisations define their core purpose, mission, and vision by creating a clear Theory of Change, which forms the foundation for all fundraising efforts.
• Module 1: Identification – Guides organisations in developing a simple fundraising strategy and conducting targeted donor research using online tools and the TripleFunds database.
• Module 2: Cultivation – Focuses on building relationships with potential donors through improved communication materials, including website, annual reports and social media channels.
• Module 3: Solicitation – Supports the development of strong, persuasive grant proposals, including impact models, pitch decks, and guidance on donor registration processes.
• Module 4: Stewardship – Teaches how to maintain and strengthen relationships through effective reporting, a stewardship calendar, and a simple Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) framework.

Participants also receive access to our TripleFunds donor database and a suite of practical templates. Progress is tracked through pre- and post-program assessments using the FUNCAP Score, ensuring clear insights into growth and impact by the end of the program.
